Barack Obama School of Leadership and STEM

TGRWA provided structural engineering services for the three horizontal additions to the existing school. The 10,000 sq. ft., 1-story classroom addition, the 16,000 sq. ft., 1-story gymnasium and fitness area addition, and the 1,000 sq. ft., 1-story kitchen addition greatly expanded the school. The classroom and kitchen additions utilized steel and masonry framed structures, while the gymnasium and fitness area addition utilized a steel, masonry, and precast framed structure. The gymnasium was designed in accordance with FEMA guidelines to act as a community tornado shelter.
