Kresge Centennial Hall Northwestern University

TGRWA provided structural engineering services for the horizontal addition to and renovation of the existing education building on the campus of Northwestern University. The 23,000 sq. ft., 5-story addition with basement expanded the useable space, and the 85,000 sq. ft. 5-story renovation provided new classrooms and offices. The steel framed structure of the addition was attached to the existing concrete framed structure and was designed to fit into a tight, confined footprint which required earth retention throughout. Renovations included new stairs, new elevators, a new rooftop mechanical penthouse, and reinforcing of the existing structure with fiber reinforced polymer (FRP).
