Fermilab PIP-II Linac Complex
Batavia, ILTGRWA provided structural engineering services for the new particle accelerator complex at the US DOE‘s Fermilab (Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory) facility. This complex is the 2nd phase of the Proton Improvement Plan-II (PIP-II) and includes the 18,000 sq. ft. support building housing offices and a high bay work space, the 900 ft. long, 50,000 sq. ft. gallery building housing the accelerator’s operational equipment, and two large underground tunnels. The support building has a steel framed structure and supports for an overhead bridge crane, and the gallery building has a steel framed structure. Both the 1,125 ft. long Linac tunnel housing the accelerator, and the beam transfer tunnel use a concrete structure.
