Champaign Central and Centennial High Schools
Champaign, ILTGRWA provided structural engineering services for the $130M expansion and renovation of the Champaign Central and Centennial High Schools. The project included selective demolitions, additions, renovations, and site development for both high schools, along with limited work at Spaulding Park and McKinley Park. The 2 to 3-story buildings included 291,000 sq. ft. of new construction area and 367,000 sq. ft. of renovation area. New steel framed and precast/masonry bearing wall structures were integrated with the existing steel framed and precast/masonry bearing wall structures. Both schools feature storm shelters for tornado protection.
